Checklist Before Dealing With Philippines Activated Carbon Suppliers

By Christine Ellis

Many things need to be clean in an environmentally sound urban landscape, and this includes water. Water treatment is mostly done by the use of chemicals and filtration systems, with lesser dependence on the latter. However, with the advent of activated carbon, these are now widely used for filtration due to their effective absorption of contaminants from liquid or vapor streams. If you are in the market for this product, then you may be interested in some Philippines activated carbon sellers and producers and how to choose them.

Should you do a world wide web search for activated carbon distributors and sellers from the Philippines, you will get a new result of about twenty or so. These results will most likely include coconut producers and manufacturers and this may look strange to you and you probably scratching your head why.

This is because activated carbon as a general rule uses coconut charcoal as its main ingredient. Coconut charcoal has a very high carbon content, which is also true of very many nutshells in the planet. This is converted to through physical modification and thermal decomposition in a controlled environment or furnace. Once converted they become materials with a very high absorption capacity as compared to their relative size.

The basically high demand for this product, not only for water filtration, but also for other functions such as industrial pollution control, odor removal and portable air filtration units at home have seen a rise in Philippine providers wanting to sell the product. This rise in seemingly ready providers must be met with a grain of salt.

When contacting suppliers in this island nation, most likely you will be coursed to coconut players and traders or those having connections with the coconut industry. This is fine and good if you are the end user of input materials or raw materials. However, very few will be actually producing the product you are looking for, a little less than 20% of those that you will come in contact with.

Save yourself the trouble of a trans Pacific flight by looking at the websites of your potential supply partners. As a general rule, a more capable supplier will have a website, which will detail their production processes, show pictures of their facilities and even showcase their products and current partners. If a supplier does not have a website then jut go on to the next one that has.

Contact them by email at the soonest possible time. Once you do contact them do ask for a brochure of what they have to offer and what facilities that they have. Their brochure must include what products they sell and if they can customize the activated carbon for your needs, whether this be for liquid phase applications, gas phase applications, or soil base applications. Inquire into the available mesh sizes they can manufacture for specific needs

And finally do make a visit to their facilities to see everything with your own eyes. By doing an ocular visit, you will determine if the supplier can handle your orders or not. Also at the visit, it will be a good time to talk to managers and owners if possible and see if they can match your business goals.
