By Linda Olson

Some accessories are not only functional, they also tell a lot about the wearer. Having large diamond earrings will make you look flashy, while pearl studs, of even the same size, will point towards sophistication. When people look at your watch, one of the ways they will assess its worth is by looking at your strap. Therefore, to avoid embarrassment, it is best to stick with genuine Casio watch bands.

Wrist sizes of different people vary. Therefore, this is one of those things that you should buy in person. You may choose to take your measurements and then uses this to find straps of the right size, but the measurements alone will not be enough, for selecting a compatible design and size for your timepiece. For this, you will need to be there in person.

One of the most important things you will need to consider when choosing these bands is their material. Leather, is the most common material for watch fastenings, especially for high-end timepieces. Additionally, it is classy and sophisticated and can range in price. However, it ages with time and may start peeling or cutting.

Metal is another material you will most likely consider. Typically, metal bands are either silver or gold in color and can be made of anything from titanium to stainless steel. Most people associate metal bands with men, but slimmer more delicate designs are appropriate for women. However, before you go for metal fastenings, ensure that the straps fit you properly and that you do not have a metal allergy.

Some people choose to go with rubber, plastic or heavy denim fastenings for their timepieces. Although these as not as glamorous as their leather or metal counterparts, they are less pricey and also the best for people with sensitive skin. Additionally, these materials are very versatile, meaning they can come in a variety of colors and patterns. However, they are not very appropriate for expensive timepieces or for wear during formal occasions.

Most people cannot tell the difference between genuine fasteners and imitation. To avoid getting conned, if you fall into this category, make your purchase at a reputable dealer. You can look for a store that stocks Casio items, or try to identify well-established watch makers in your area. If you want something expensive, avoid online stores unless they are well known internationally.

Casio timepieces are known for their durability, versatility, and class. Due to this reputation, the suitable straps you find will not come cheap. However, you do not have to buy the most expensive ones you see. You should take your time and look at all your options. Alternatively, you can get one expensive set for special occasions and another two straps for everyday use.

When purchasing your watch, you were most likely meticulous when inspecting it and this should also be done with your replacement straps. This way you can tell if the leather has loose threads or if the metal is rusty. You should seek out an expert to attach the bands. This way, you will not damage either the watch or the straps. They will also be better placed to point out flaws, in your purchase.
