The specialists whose job description comprises of planning, designing, and reviewing construction of buildings are referred to as architects. Architecture is the name of the profession. Architects offer services that are associated with building designs. They also help in designing of spaces around buildings. Buildings designed by these professionals are meant for people to occupy. Therefore, the decisions made by an architect affect public safety, which makes them very important. When in search of Architects NJ should be given priority.

Since architects work to ensure public safety, they are required to undergo special training and attain a high level of academic requirement. They also must undergo internship to gain the necessary skills and work experience needed to do the job. Academic, technical, and practical requirements needed for becoming an architect usually vary from one jurisdiction to the next. The terms architecture and architects also relate to several other disciplines.

Other disciplines with architects and architecture are landscape architecture, naval architecture, information technology, and enterprise architecture among several others. Architect as a term has roots in Greek word architectus. The word architectus translates into chief builder in English. Hence, an architect can be a chief builder in charge of anything including computer systems, ships, buildings, and roads among several others.

In light of the nature of the work, becoming an architect is one task that is quite demanding. As such, the inspiration must start while a person is young, mostly after completion of high school. After this, the aspirant can pursue a bachelor degree in architecture. In most cases, the degree takes 5 years before one can graduate. At undergraduate degree level, students deal with building and construction, architectural history and theories, and computer-aided drafting and design among other topics.

If one already has a degree in a different field such as construction management, they can enroll for a degree in master of Architecture. Master of Architecture programs are also available for people who already have a bachelor degree in architecture but want to pursue further specialization. For such people, areas of specialization available include solar design, design theory, and historic preservation.

The level of training and experience possessed by an individual in the architectural profession determines the duration one take to attain a master degree. Basically, one to five years is the duration most people take. An individual may take two years to attain a master degree if one possess a bachelor degree in architecture. However, others may take three years to attain the master degree, particularly people possessing a bachelor degree in an entirely different field.

It is a licensing requirement that applicants after completing necessary academic requirements must complete a 3 year paid internship in order to be eligible for licensure. The other requirement is taking and passing an architect registration test. Failing the test demands a retake. Interns work under close supervision of seasoned architects and assist in writing specs, designing projects and building models, and preparing CADD drawings.

A major requirement for those already licensed is taking continuing studies so that they can continue to hold their license. Therefore, obtaining the opportunities to study more concerning their field is something that a licensed architect must do. Classes, conferences, and workshops are methods through which to pursue continuing studies.
