Reasons To Rekey Locks Providence

By Kenneth Olson

Many people are not aware that you can actually rekey your locks. More often than not, when people want to have control of the security of their home, offices or property, what they normally do is change the bolts. This is however not necessary as all one needs to do is to Rekey Locks Providence.

The process of rekeying basically involves having a locksmith take apart a lock cylinder and change the pins and springs within so that a different key can be used to operate the lock. It is a much cheaper option than changing the entire lock end the process also allows the locksmith to fix any underlying issues with the entire lock. Should they find a big issue with the lock, then they will recommend changing the entire lock.

It would be foolish to trust that everyone has your best interest at heart. It is almost impossible to judge the character of a person just by a few moments of interaction or by how you relate the few times that you have met. Some are good others not so much and even if the chances are low of dealing with an unscrupulous individual, it is better to be safe than sorry.

The former homeowner may give you all the keys that they have, but there is no way of knowing who else they may have given a copy to. In many instances we give spare keys to caregivers, contractors, or even relatives to have access to our homes when we are away. There is no way of knowing who may have retained a copy of the house keys from the relations or service providers of the previous owner.

So you can never really be safe when someone else you do not know well has had access to the keys of your new home. Copies may have been made here and there and those that made the copies may have ill intentions. To avert any incidences where such a person can break into your home, be sure to rekey the bolts the moment you move in.

If the fallout was not pleasant, there is a chance that the person may try to gain entry into your home either to frustrate you or cause you harm. In cases where the fallout was really bad, they can pay someone to come to your home and attack you. It is easier to execute such a plan as no one will hear them coming in or out as they have easy access.

If they find that you did not change the locks to the new home after you moved in, they are likely to settle for less, if anything at all, of the total amount of insurance that you are due. The fault of the vandalism will be partly on you due to negligence as you did not take precautions with the security of your home.

You should never take the security of your home for granted even when you are short of money. If you are not in a position financially to change the bolts of the house, settle for rekeying. This will ensure that anyone who had previous access to the home no longer has any access and only people who can access are those that you allow.
