Finding Professional Oil Tanks Cleaning Companies For Your Factory

By Amanda Cox

If your home is not couple up to the mains gas network in the UK, you will most likely need to store oil on your property's grounds to use as fuel to heat water for your heating and hot water systems in your home. To do this, you will need to purchase heating oil tanks.

Professional cleaners focused on helping industrial and manufacturing businesses offer many useful services. These may range from tank cleaning, mold remediation, waste disposal, and oil tank removal.

The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) Regulations came into effect in the UK in March 2011. The regulations state that a secondary containment system (a bund) must be incorporated at all relevant fuel tank installations, where storage requirements exceed 200 liters. All new tank installations are required by law to comply with the regulations by 20th September 2011.

So what exactly is a bund? A bund is a secondary containment system. When the term is applied to a heating fuel tank, it means that it consists of a tank within a tank design. The inner tank acts as your primary fuel storage container, while the outer acts as a protective layer and is capable of containing fuel in the event of the inner layer being damaged or splitting. This prevents the fuel from leaking into its surrounding environment and ensures that it does not contaminate nearby water supplies or landscapes.

Waste Management- Proper waste disposal and transport are important for any manufacturing or industrial facility. Improper waste disposal may cause severe environmental damage, or put your entire factory at risk. Many waste disposal companies can take care of your contaminated water, excess fuel, or waste chemicals. Make sure to look for reliable waste disposal companies who know exactly how to handle and dispose of your waste materials.

The risk assessment from the Environmental Agency will consider whether there are any other pollution risks nearby such as loose manhole covers, waterways and the location of the tank among others. If you place the wrong heating fuel tank on your property, you will have to replace it which can obviously be costly and means that you have initially wasted your money.

Notify a qualified technician, who will be able to advise you on the best course of action. Remember, tank maintenance is a specialist skill and should not be carried out as part of day-to-day D. I. Y. You can find an accredited installer and technician on the Tankmark website, which lists the UK's largest network of fuel tank technicians, many of whom can conduct a free site inspection.

Look at the tank stand - Heating fuel reservoirs can be incredibly heavy. A fuel tank with a 1,135-litre capacity can weigh around a ton, which means that the stand is put under enormous pressure. It's important to check to make sure the stand is still structurally sound and has no signs of giving way.
