Differentiating Between Wealth And Riches

By Gregory Williams

The two words are almost used interchangeably but they mean a whole lot of difference. A wealthy man is not necessarily a rich man. What differentiates Wealth and Riches is how one gets to each state and what the status turns him or her into. There are many ways one can describe the two characters, but the easiest would be using their possession.

A wealthy man is considered satisfied with his possession. This translates into possessions that elicit a feeling of gratitude and contentment. In fact, wealth goes beyond material possession. The motivation for wealthy people goes beyond money and the items they own. The wealthy are not regarded in terms of their bank balances.

The wealthy live a life of satisfaction and experience incredible good in their lives. What they count as possessions include networks that provide support and relationships that are more valuable than money. These networks and relationships are also built over time and will take time to break. They offer long term benefits as opposed to instant fixes. In fact, the wealthy do not have to be the richest in the neighborhood. Their satisfaction does not necessarily arise from material possessions.

Many people lean towards the search for riches with little or no regard for being wealthy. Wealth has a long term effect and is self sustaining. In fact, the fact that one can tap into his networks and relationships is considered a sign of wealth. Such people ride on their knowledge and the networks they have built to survive or ride disasters and catastrophes. Such cannot be said of rich people whose possession can be wiped in an instance.

The measure for richness is your material possessions. It is what you own or have acquired that determines whether you are rich or not. This is why one can turnout to be rich in a day and poor on the other. Further, you do not require the support networks to be rich. Moreover, one can quantify your richness in dollars or material property. Being rich will also depend on the people around you and what they own.

Networks or relationships are not mandatory for rich people. This is why some rich people can be found in affluent neighborhoods with little or no impact on their neighbors. The fact that the lives of people around you have not been transformed by your possessions leads to loneliness and sometimes conflict with them. Being rich does not guarantee a feeling of contentment and inner peace.

While being rich is good and important, being wealthy is preferred. It comes with an incredible sense of satisfaction because you have an impact on the society around. The network feels your impact when you are absent and will be ready to support when things do not turn out right. Even with little in their possession, wealthy persons are incredibly satisfied in life.

Information and networks are important for the wealthy. It is these advantages that enable such persons to survive turbulence and experience peace amidst down falls. Wealthy people are not interested in quick treasures but take time to build lasting assets around them that do not have to be physical.
