Reproduction Vintage Clothing Patterns On Neoprene Fabrics Are Used To Resurrect Old Fashion

By Robert Graham

Ever watched a 1940s themed movie and loved a certain dress worn by a character in it only to find that it was in style more than 100 years ago? If the answer is yes then you are probably an admirer of vintage clothes. People like Ellen Demorest have made it possible to recreate old clothing styles by introducing reproduction vintage clothing patterns on Neoprene Fabrics. If you know how to sew you can buy them and sew that dress you saw in the movies, if not you can pay someone else to do it for you using those patterns.

These patterns can be used to aid new seamstresses to sew vintage garments. The first ones were made of tissue paper, then later they started producing the printed forms. They come in different sizes and have detailed instructions for beginners. They can be found either on physical stores or on online clothing stores.

Thanks to technology, you can now buy online patterns as soft copies and make hard copies yourself. This way you know they will always be readily available on your computer should you need them. But not everyone is a fan of technology, some just prefer to buy the original paper patterns. The risk is that if they get torn then they ll have to buy another one, unless if they make copies of the original and save it.

They are very easy to find, especially where used items are sold. They are almost always available at yard sales, real estates and antique shows because this is where people normally sell their lifetime collections. Vintage clothing stores also have them and at a very reasonable price. There are also a number of bloggers who have a collection of them online.

Online presence is making the tissue paper patterns to go out of style. There are now plenty of online retail shops selling these patterns like eBay and Amazon. Better yet, you can now create them yourself with the aid of technology. So you don t have to spend money each time you want a new pattern. Software apps like PatternMaster and CAD are the latest technologies used to make patterns and they can be accessed by anyone.

You ll still need some few things besides the patterns to make your sewing project a success. A French curve to make beautiful straight curves on your clothes and a straight clear ruler. A pencil for marking with an eraser and a scissor is also needed. And finally, papers, pattern weights and an iron.

There are several types of papers used for this. The tracing paper is the most usable one because it is clear. Then there is a wrapping paper, this one will be very difficult to see through it while tracing the patterns. The last one is the dot paper, it is very easy to use and found very cheap. The paper has to be ironed first and then tracing will begin ending with sewing.

Some people don t want to spend time tracing the patterns, so they use the original pattern directly. Some don t want to use them for sewing, they just want to collect them for fun.
