Rattlesnake Control - Keeping Snakes Out Of The Garden

By Douglas King

Encountering any kind of a snake in your garden can be a heart wrenching experience. This is however something that will not come as a surprise given that snakes prefer such hideouts where there is grass and allows them to hunt for small animals like rodents and others. The worst case scenario is when an encounter turns fatal and the snake has to charge at you in the spirit of self defense. To avoid this, it is important that you take measures to avoid this at all costs. The best way to do this is through Rattlesnake Control in your garden:

The first step: You want to take the proper steps to make sure that you aren't providing the ideal home for these reptiles. They don't demand too much by way of an abode to take up residence in. As long as there is something they can hide under and then have access to food they certainly won't mind sharing your property.

In another scenario, if you find the snake in a difficult-to-reach place, such as a drawer, you should do nothing and contact the RSPCA or PDSA. They will collect the animal and take it away from your house. If you find the snake in your garden, keep yourself away from it. Also, do not try to kill it. Most people get bitten by a snake as they try to kill it off with a stick or broom. Instead, you should spray it from a safe distance using a high-pressure sprinkler or hose. This way the snake may get away.

What is the perfect hiding quarters for snakes? While they enjoy the warmth and sun, they like to be inconspicuous as well. Their ideal living quarters will be burrows, rock piles and even inside the hollow of a dead fallen tree. You now want to walk your property and rid it of anything that is likely to be attractive as a snake dwelling.

In the USA, there are four poisonous types of snakes: coral snakes, rattle snakes, copperheads, and cottonmouths. Rattlesnakes can be easily identified as they produce a rattling sound. Coral snakes are red, black and yellow. On the other hand, cottonmouths are dark, olive green.

Using this substance to keep snakes at bay, you will have to find an alternative method to fend off rodents since their main predator is no longer in the vicinity. The fact that one positive leads to a negative means that you should find a way to balance the existence of these two nuisances in your property.

Garter snakes prefer to exist in warm areas like the environment of a garden. This means you have to take great care when you go tou your garden sibnce you can easily encounter them. If they do not bite you, they sure as hell will scare you to death. The worst thing one can hope is to encounter a poisonous snake at his or her own home, this can be such a traumatic experience.

Establish what kind of snake bit the person. If you can safely kill it for identification, do so. If not, make a mental note of it's markings. Call the emergency services to evacuate the wounded person or evacuate them yourself if they are not critically ill. Meeting the ambulance on the way is another good option. Keep calm and keep the patient calm.
