The word golf itself is a Scottish word that can roughly be translated as club. The first mention of this sport dates as far back a 1457, where it had become banned due to it being a distraction for soldiers from practicing archery.

Because the game was quite interesting, many had played it but this proved to be a distraction in training soldiers and for these reasons, upon others as well, it was banned. Eventually though, that ban was lifted when a Scottish king took the throne of England and because the king and the subjects loved to play, the ban on it was lifted and many had played since.

The 19th century brought to golfing a boom period as it had spread to different places when royals were also noted to play. The quality of balls were focused on and developed further to have great hardness and for it to last a much longer time than previous ones and the clubs used were also improved upon to get more distance in swings.

The advancements in sports had improved a lot through the passage of time. Each century showed a different progress in the sport. Thanks to all this, golf has become a very popular activity to do and many play it on weekends and with other people.
