Useful Information On Pipeline Stringing

By Angela Hughes

Natural gas drilling project is a good investment you can count on. The pipelines that are used to transmit natural gas have a steel mill construction. There are very many aspects to consider when it comes to pipeline stringing and the construction includes very many processes. The project may also take a while. If you are thinking about it, below are a number of steps you should know about.

Stringing is very important in the construction process. It is an activity that needs your attention since each segment is different and if they are misplaced, it may take you a long while to finish. Each pipe needs to be well marked to determine where it belongs on the line. The thickness and the coating used are applied based on the soil conditions and location of the area.

Every equipment to be used in offloading and transportation of parts must be specified. For the trailers, they need not carry ten segments and above at any given time. The trailers must have suspensions to ensure that traveling is not dangerous. Because of this, a majority of the corporations doing installation have adopted new techniques that can carefully remove all the pipelines from trucks.

Bending is an important step that needs to be realized. Large devices are used in taking the parts of pipelines and bending them. This makes sure that they are easily curved where needed and will rise and fall with an elevation. These machines are fitted with a bending set and die limited by the thickness of pipes. Keep in mind that curving the pipes in the wrong way or using the wrong equipment leads to interruptions.

Before you start the process, ensure you get all the permits required. You also will have to sign an agreement with a contractor and it is important you review it. Remember to flag boundaries of all areas where construction will take place. The flags are important in marking the extent of the construction zone that surrounds the pipeline right of way. How wide the right of way is will be determined according to the pipes of the diameters.

Make sure all the staging areas have been cleared prior to starting the blueprint. Such areas are mostly utilized in keeping of equipment parts, stakes, sandbags and fuel tanks. They are also useful in stockpiling pipes. The area is useful for parking trailers of members of staff, office trailers and equipment used in construction. After the area is cleared, gravel needs to be used in covering the trench whereas wood timber is important in reinforcing the trench.

Excavating the trench is done after the right of way has been cleared of trees. Ensure you get equipment that can help in removing stones whenever creating the trench. Sandbags should be placed within the trench so as to restrict the flow of water and to support the pipes. When the trench has been completed, pre-coated segments of pipe are transported from the stockpiles to the right of way.

Before completion of the blueprint, the pipeline integrity needs to be verified using hydrostatic testing. If it remains intact after the test, it is considered operational. While many of them are underground, there are a number of supporting infrastructure constructed. Compressor stations and facilities which maintain pressure level are built.
