Choosing An Excellent Insurance Expert Witness

By Ann White

Some people think that all that is needed for a witness in a court is a nice outfit. If you are one of them and you are reading this article you need to know that much is needed than a mere ironed suit. First you need to be a person who is time conscious otherwise you will mess things up if you are an insurance expert witness.

Every word that comes out of your mouth should come with honesty. Only truthful people can be relied on. Do not argue about the honesty of your facts here, they have to have no exaggerations or omission . You cannot lie to the judge because they are more experienced with witnesses more than you can imagine. Arguments in courts are not condoned and therefore you should avoid them when providing your facts.

Judges do not rely on reports that show bias. How will the judge understand the case with a testimony that is one sided? He must hear both sides otherwise he will be forced to ignore the testimony given. You can easily identify a liar even from a far. Even if you have your own opinion on the case, do not show it. Just tell the truth and wait for the final judging.

Having adequate preparations before you go to the court helps a lot. This is when you write down your report to the narrate everything to the court. You have to make sure that the report is well as you may want it.

If you are a court witness you will be allowed to bring your evidence be it still or pictures in motion. You need to do some checks on whatever shots or videos to have to ascertain their compatibility and formats. Any scratches should be removed for easy playing.

You also have to be confident and calm. Stay focused because the examining lawyer will be given a chance to ask you some questions. The judge may also like to give a comment about the witnesses reputation. If you are a credible person or not the judge will also say.

Do not sit down and wait to appear on the court just like that. Look for all knowledge that is available on similar cases to learn more. There must have been cases similar to yours in the past. Look at them keenly and if possible look at the question asked by the lawyer and see how they were tackled. Be keen not to borrow ideas of witnesses whose testimonials where refuted or lost cases.

A witness cannot win the case alone without the help of the lawyer handling that particular case. Provide all the details you have. You can be of great help if you avail yourself when he needs you. In case you see missed calls from him make sure that you return them immediately. I n case you remember something new on the case, you have to inform them immediately.
