Tsa Horror Stories That No One Wants To Go Through

By Sharon Perry

Those who like to travel often find it unavoidable to have to fly at some point. This means dealing with the Transportation Security Administration, something that might make a lot of people nervous due to the abundance of stories people have shared about their own bad experiences dealing with them. TSA horror stories don't always have to happen every time you go to the airport, and there are some ways that you can avoid this happening to you.

It might make you sick to hear that those who are the most vulnerable are usually the ones who get targeted for harassment by the agents. The simple reason for this is because they feel that they probably won't get caught if they subject particularly vulnerable people to their poor treatment. This kind of thing happens all the time to the elderly, young women, and those who have disabilities.

If you're not very experienced in flying, it is a good idea to double-check the rules and make sure that you are fully aware of everything that you have in your pockets when you are going through security. Things can get pretty hectic very quickly in these airports, particularly the more busy ones. People don't always expect to be grilled all of a sudden by a security agent, and failing to understand their instructions might lead to a stressful situation.

When you're deprived of sleep, you're less likely to be able to be patient with a surly agent. This is almost always the case when you go on a long plane ride. The situation is made even harder if you have a traveling with kids.

Those who travel internationally will often encounter language barriers with those in security check roles. This can make it difficult to understand what the agent is asking you to do. Failing to follow their orders might lead to a situation escalating quickly.

Pat downs are one of the primary times when an agent might do something that he or she isn't supposed to. It is hard to tell when the touch becomes inappropriate simply because of the nature of this type of security check. It is also very hard to question someone's motives when they are in such a position of power if you're not sure what the consequences will be for you.

Because of social networking and review sites, it is easy to find out which airports are known for having friendlier agents and which ones have the less friendly ones. Being equipped with this information can help you choose the right airport. In other cases, it can just help you prepare for what you are about to deal with when you go through security.

For some people, being yelled at can be a very traumatizing experience. This can be even worse when you feel like you might get into serious trouble with the law as a result of what you're being yelled at for. Security agents have a very important job that is necessary to keep people safe when traveling, but they sometimes let their power go to their own heads a bit too much.
